With the economy being what it is, a lot of people have worked different types of jobs over the last few years to make ends meet. Yesterday’s Internet security specialist might be today’s ice cream man.
What else have people done to make ends meet over the past few years? Here are a few fields people have found themselves in:
Dry cleaning: It’s amazing how many people have found themselves in the cleaning business since jobs in their previous professions got downsized. And it can provide a good opportunity. One man in the San Francisco Bay Area, for instance, used a couple-year hiatus from working in the startup world to grow his cleaning shop. He’s back to work in the tech sector now, and the cleaning business largely runs itself.
Working with animals: Careers with dogs aren’t just limited to being a canine walker or dog catcher anymore (and speaking of such, who even works as a dog catcher anymore? That job’s apparently gone the way of the milkman.) These days, people can dog sit, dog whisper, even be dog therapists. Heck, current dog training classes practically make it so that dogs themselves can join the working world.
Telemarketing: The adage over the past several years has been that’s it never been tougher to sell over the phone. Easier, perhaps, has been getting a job in the telemarketing field, one of the few areas seemingly hiring consistently since America’s economy has gone to ruin and back since the great crash of 2008.
